Patricia A. Thiel

The Journal of Chemical Physics is delighted to welcome Patricia A. Thiel, John D. Corbett Professor of Chemistry, Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Materials Science at Iowa State University and a Faculty Scientist at Ames Laboratory, as a new Associate Editor. Her research involves experimental surface science, primarily using STM and LEED, to study model surfaces and their chemistry on an atomic scale in order to understand real problems in corrosion, lubrication, heterogeneous catalysis and microelectronics (thin films). Her current research focuses on metal nanostructures on semiconductors and insulators, surfaces of complex metallic alloys/intermetallics including quasicrystals, and stability and coarsening of metal nanostructures on metal surfaces.
